Geography
We are proud of our bespoke Geography curriculum at Lytham C of E, which has been structured and planned to suit the needs and interests of our pupils and to take advantage of our rich geographical region and coastal location.
Our goal for our geography education is to excite and stimulate pupils’ natural curiosity to enable them to make sense of the world in which they live, empowering them to become empathetic citizens and custodians. We do this with the help of our ‘Geography Giants’ – the giants of our world, each with its own ‘umbrella’ of key concepts, which we cannot gain a secure knowledge or understanding of Geography without:
· Land
· Water
· People
· Climate
· Sustainability
These are the threads that run throughout our Geography curriculum, allowing our children to regularly revisit key concepts and make important links between them. This ensures a clear progression of skills, vocabulary and experiences which build upon our pupils’ knowledge and understanding in a consistent and engaging way.
‘Geography is the tapestry that weaves the world together’. (Gil Grosvenor)
