Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Year 3 is all about exciting new challenges as the children move up from KS1 to KS2. It’s a year full of hands-on learning, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities for the children to explore, grow, and thrive. We make sure every day is full of engaging lessons that spark curiosity and inspire creativity.

Staffing

Class Teacher: Mr Gray

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Young

PPA Cover: Mrs Croughan (Tuesday PM)

Homework

Homework goes home on a Friday and is collected in and marked the following Wednesday. The children will receive one piece of maths and English homework each week. The children are also encouraged to learn their weekly spellings, along with using TTRockstars.

Reading

We are looking forward to developing the children’s love of reading this year. We listen to the children read at least once every two weeks. Please can you aim to listen to your child read at least three times per week. When a child finishes a book, they change their book themselves.

Library – Books are changed every Wednesday. The children will receive a sticker to put on their reading award card, every time they read a book. Please be aware that the children choose their own books. If you ever feel like a book is too difficult, you can send this back to school for them to change.

General Reminders

• Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure the children have the appropriate kit for each day.

• The children will also need their own water bottle in school, which they have access to all day. Please make sure that they are clearly labelled.

Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us, either after school when collecting your child, on Class Dojo, or by arranging a more formal appointment with the school office.

Worship and Reflection Areas

In our classroom, we have a special area for worship and reflection. In this space, children are encouraged to take time to think about the teachings of Jesus Christ and think about how they embody our Christian values both at school and at home.

Before and After School

At the beginning of the school day, before registration (8:45am – 8:55am depending on arrival time) the children will have different maths, reading and SPAG activities to complete. These are focused on revision and practising the skills they have learnt previously.

School finishes at 3:30pm.

Thank you for visiting our class page, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or queries.
